Apple sold record 13 million iPhone 6s units this weekend

 


The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have sold a record 13 million handsets in their first three days on the market, according to Apple.
“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook.

Reviews for the iPhone 6s have been generally very positive, with particular praise being given to the new 3D Touch feature, which has been hailed as a potential game-changer for Apple going forward. You can check out Cult of Mac’s iPhone 6s review here.
The iPhone 6s will start selling in 40 additional countries starting October 9, including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Taiwan. By the end of the year, the new handsets will be available in more than 130 different countries.
It’s worth noting that this year’s record-breaking opening weekend iPhone sales includes China, which was not part of last year’s iPhone 6 opening weekend, thanks to regulatory problems which delayed the release of the handset.
Taking this into consideration, the iPhone 6s has likely seen slightly lower sales in the U.S. and Europe, although Apple has not released a breakdown of where handset sales took place.
Either way, it looks like Apple’s unprecedented orders for the iPhone 6s were well-judged on the part of the company.
