Mark Zuckerberg posted this Annie Leibovitz portrait of him embracing his pregnant wife Priscilla Chan on Facebook on Wednesday. The couple announced their pregnancy in July after suffering three miscarriages
The couple who married in 2012 after meeting at Harvard University announced their pregnancy in July.
With the announcement, they revealed their lengthy battle with three miscarriages, prompting an international debate about the lack of recognition couples get when they lose a child before birth.
Zuckerberg's post, which went viral, said: 'You feel so hopeful when you learn you're going to have a child.
'You start imagining who they'll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they're gone. It's a lonely experience.' Finally, the couple have gone public with their pregnancy as it is 'now far enough along that the risk of loss is very low and we are very hopeful'.
And their excitement is palpable.
Speaking at the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit in San Francisco in October, before posing for Leibovitz's portrait backstage with Chan, Zuckerberg appeared on a panel to discuss virtual reality.
For him, imminent fatherhood has made him incredibly excited about the medium.
