Little did Linus Torvald knew that his personal project of a new free operating system kernel will become a cult someday. Linux kernel in the primitive form was of no practical use. Later Linux and GNU developers collaborated to integrate the components of GNU with Linux to make a functional and free OS.
1. As of today, Linux is open to more than thousands of developers worldwide for improvisation and is also among the top choices of the developers.
2. Now drawing from the personal experience, Linux users are one of the proudest and creative people I have met. And, I think I have found the reason for that behavior.
3. Linux kernel had more than 18 million lines of source code in its 3.18 version in 2015 and the rate of Linux development is unmatched. The improvements accepted into the Linux kernel per hour is 7.71 which sums to about 1,300 changes every week.
4. The Department of Defence of the US also uses Linux extensively. The Red Hat Linux runs the nuclear submarines of the State.
